New Quartz ‘Wand’ For My Mineral Collection

qtrz_ne-sw.JPG
A gift, this quartz ‘wand’ is 6″ x 1″ x 3/4″ (152mm x 25mm x 19mm). My daughter immediately picked it up, made some underhand Harry Potter move with it and abruptly vanished. I left a text with her brother to call me ASAP re:reversal.

No Animals Were Harmed During These Tests

Ubiquitous in continental rocks, quartz defines the Mohs hardness rating of 7 and comprises the majority of light colored beach sand. A member of the huge silicate group, it’s made of silicon dioxide (SiO2), the specific gravity is 2.6-2.7, hexagonal crystal system, conchoidal fracture, glassy luster, occurs in most colors.

Also called ‘rock crystal’, quartz crystals are popular with collectors for their beauty, clarity, variety and economy.

Notice this crystal is more brownish or yellow on the right side. Hard to see in my poor pics but the thick end is slightly more violet or amethyst in color.

It sports a small pattern of rainbow color flash.qtrz_flor-cls.JPG
Please send any information/spells re: disappeared daughter and dachshund.
