It took me a year off and on to sell this French, ‘mixte’ style, steel frame bike but Craigslist finally came through for me.

A nice couple with two daughters drove down from Chico, everyone rode it, and it fit and was admired by everyone.

The good looks, authenticity, head-badge, patina, paint and decals sold it for the advertised price of $150.

And few drive 75 miles (>110k) to low-ball, they want it. Don’t want to look cheap in front of the family by haggling, either.

I advised the dad to swap out the period correct but slippery alloy 1970s ‘rat-trap’ pedals because I’m a worry wart.

I built it years back and sold it to a neighbor pal. He was downsizing so I got two of my bike builds back from him in exchange for a musical keyboard I’d given up trying to play.

I broke one of the bikes down for parts and put the white Peugeot mixte bike up for sale on CL. It rode well but was too short for me.

You need this horizontal type (more or less) to easily (more or less) adjust and tension fixie/single-speed rear wheels.
It cost me over $200 for the components but I got little online interest in it for months.

Now I’m glad I didn’t lower the price. The Chico family was happy to get a functional antique and could afford the money easily.

It’s fun to have your wrench turning appreciated and, partly, rewarded, even if it takes a year. So goodbye for good to my French beauty.
