An army topheavy in officers because they lack sergeants, corporals or many noncoms, the backbone of the US and Western armies.

Ukraine, OTOH, was always the military technology leader of the Soviet Union, building most of the Union’s most effective combat systems. Even after the Soviet collapse in 1991.

Putin, a secret policeman with bureaucratic infighting skills, is profoundly ignorant of history: or anything else. Yet he fancies himself a strategic military genius, and his slave-like, zombie soldiers are paying for it.

With the dearth of tanks and armored vehicles, the Russian commanders send the troops into combat in golf carts, stolen civilian vehicles, motorcycles, and bread vans.

This is suicidal, resulting in an average time of 30 minutes before death or maiming. Russians do not take care of their casualties and don’t even bury their dead.

Lately the Ukrainians have perfected, manufactured in quantity, and deployed, long and medium range drones, and cruise and ballistic missiles.

They are devastating Russian oil infrastructure, transport systems, radars, aircraft and their bases, bridges, and lately, Wildberries big box stores, supplier of everything the Russian soldiers must buy to fight in Ukraine.

And within the last few weeks Ukraine has devastated with domestic drones the Russian ‘shadow fleet’ of tankers, cargo vessels, tugs, ferries, and landing craft in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

Ukraine having previously sunk enough Russian Navy ships, including the Black Sea flagship cruiser Moskva, that they cannot protect their sanctioned merchant ships. Or even themselves.

Thus the Russian economy is failing and they are printing money with nothing to back it. Crimea has been isolated with Ukraine intentionally leaving the damaged Kerch Strait bridge, pride of Putin, open to light vehicles so the large Russian ‘settler’ population can evacuate.

Mostly by foot, since there is no gasoline, diesel or electric power in all of Crimea. And in much of Russia. Gas lines stretch for kilometers and gas theft is endemic.

More and more Putin has been expropriating the money of the wealthy oligarchs that have always been his main support, jailing, poisoning, or defenestrating the resistant.

So Putin has lost the war and it’s evident that he, like trump, is not long for this world though by different mechanisms. Trump from prefrontal lobe shrinkage due to alzheimers disease: and Putin from a drone swarm or a fall from a tall building.
